Nationally renowned DUI defense attorney Lawrence Taylor hit the nail on the head in a recent post on his DUI blog. The quote below as as eloquent as it gets:

Seattle DUI Lawyer Aaron Wolff To Chair Criminal Law Seminar
Aaron Wolff, an attorney who focuses his practice on Seattle DUI defense will co-chair this year's Washington State Bar Association Criminal Justice Institute, a two day seminar in Seattle which updates practicing lawyers on the latest in criminal law and procedure.
The seminar will be held at the Washington State Convention and Trade Center in downtown Seattle on September 10 and 11, 2009.
Speakers will include Retired Judge Robert McBeth doing his annual update on Washington State search and seizure law, and the Washington State Attorney General Rob McKenna.
The seminar will also cover courtroom techniques for trial lawyers, including cross examination.
California DUI thoughts of the day
Today I suppose I was on a roll blogging about California DUI issues. It just seems to me that such a large and complex state is due for some major changes. Any time that happens, it is typically not good for DUI defendants. I think people will rationalize that liberalism got California into the mess it is now in, and the backlash will come in the form of certain scapegoats. I think DUI will be one of them. DUI Homicide Penalties
From state to state and county to county, DUI penalties are all over the map. Even more varied are the penalties for killing somebody while in the act of driving under the influence.
I recently reported on a California DUI case, Santa Cruz DUI Manslaughter Plea, where the guy got 8 years. Then there's the now infamous case of Stallworth and Miami DUI Pleas - Wealthy Person Style.

I've already asked Bart Herron and John Musca for their takes on the issue. I'm going to be asking other DUI lawyers over the next several weeks and will report the results of the informal survey.
